We loved working on this national Christmas campaign for Carry Out in 2021. The idea behind the ad was to celebrate togetherness after a challenging period of lockdowns, paying tribute to the resilience of Irish publicans, the joy of reuniting with family and friends, and the spirit of Christmas after a summer of staycations and people finally coming home from abroad.
The ad opened with a poignant scene of a publican (who also owns a Carry Out off license), honouring the publicans who kept their businesses afloat during lockdowns. From there, we told a series of relatable, heartfelt stories: friends catching up on FaceTime before a night out, Irish fans who ended up supporting Italy during the Euros, a match cut from a cosy drink at home to a couple camping in Glengarriff, and a young woman entering a taxi wearing a covid mask before being welcomed home by family around a festive table.
The narrative was tied together by a warm, evocative voiceover, with subtle post-production touches like the seamless glass-pass transition in the taxi scene. The finished ad became a tribute to resilience, reconnection, and celebration.
